Frequently Asked Questions

How does Drop For Drop work?

Through our Drop for Drop initiative, we develop or restore new sources of clean water, either by drilling a new well, repairing an existing well, establishing a water purification system, or implementing new water-providing technologies.  An average well when properly maintained can deliver up to approximately 3,000 liters of clean water a day. We accomplish this by putting a portion of every purchase toward our DROP|FOR|DROP initiative, and using those proceeds to fund well projects with our partnering organizations that specialize in building wells in communities where they are needed most. We're a double-bottom-line company, which means that we believe that success goes beyond just turning a profit.  We feel we have a responsibility to make a positive impact on our world and community.

How do wells in developing countries work?

The average well is about 200 feet deep. Depths can vary anywhere between 30 and 1,500 feet. For smaller wells, where the water table is closer to the earth's surface, a hand drill and pump can be used to dig it. After striking water, we dig an additional 50 - 100 feet to provide longevity for the well. The average well when properly maintained can serve over 2,000 people and produce up to 3,000 liters of clean water a day.

Can I donate to People Water?

Since we are a caused based for-profit business and not a non-profit organization, we do not except straight donations. The best way to support People Water is to purchase our water or merchandise, and spread the word about the world water crisis.

If you would like to make a straight donation to help alleviate the world water crisis, you can always donate to any number of the non-profit  organizations  that share our goal. Water.org, Waterforpeople.org, and Charitywater.org are just a few of the many great organizations out there.

Whether you purchase our water, donate to an international or local non-profit, or simply increase your own water conservation and awareness efforts, we thank you for your support and for helping alleviate the world water crisis!
